Report an Issue
We take every report seriously. If something does not look right, let us know and our team will investigate.
What Can Be Reported
You can report any activity on Pets & Plus that violates our community guidelines or poses a risk to people or animals. Common reportable issues include:
- Fraudulent listings. Listings that use stolen photos, misrepresent the breed or health of an animal, advertise animals that do not exist, or attempt to collect payment without delivering an animal.
- Animal welfare concerns. Signs that an animal is being kept in poor conditions, appears unhealthy or malnourished, or is being bred irresponsibly. This includes suspected puppy mills and kitten factories.
- Harassment or abusive behavior. Any threatening, discriminatory, or abusive language directed at another user through messages, reviews, or any other communication on the platform.
- Policy violations. Listings for prohibited species, illegal sales, underage sellers, or any other activity that breaches our terms of service.
- Suspected scams. Users who request payment through untraceable methods, refuse to meet in person, or exhibit other behaviors consistent with fraudulent activity.
How to Report
There are two ways to submit a report, depending on what is most convenient for you.
- Report directly on the platform. Every listing and user profile includes a "Report" button. Click it, select the reason for your report, and add any additional details. You can attach screenshots or other evidence to support your claim.
- Email our trust and safety team. Send a detailed report to [email protected]. Include the listing URL or username, a description of the issue, and any supporting documentation such as screenshots, message logs, or receipts.
All reports are confidential. We will never share your identity with the person you are reporting.
What Happens After You Report
Our trust and safety team follows a structured process for every report we receive.
- Acknowledgment. You will receive a confirmation email within a few hours of submitting your report, along with a reference number you can use to check the status.
- Initial review. Our team reviews all reports within 24 to 48 hours. If the report involves an immediate safety risk, we prioritize it for same-day review.
- Investigation. We examine the reported listing or user account, review message history and transaction records, and may contact both parties for additional information.
- Action taken. Depending on the severity and findings, actions may include issuing a warning, temporarily suspending the account, permanently banning the user, or removing the listing. In cases involving illegal activity, we cooperate with law enforcement.
- Follow-up. We notify you of the outcome once the investigation is complete. Due to privacy considerations, we may not be able to share every detail of the action taken, but we will confirm that the matter has been resolved.
Emergency Contacts
If you believe an animal is in immediate danger or a crime is being committed, do not wait for our review process. Contact the appropriate authorities directly.
- Local animal control. Search for your city or county's animal control department for immediate welfare concerns such as abuse, neglect, or animals in distress.
- ASPCA Animal Poison Control. Call (888) 426-4435 if you suspect an animal has been poisoned or exposed to a toxic substance.
- Local law enforcement. Call 911 or your local non-emergency police line if you suspect fraud, theft, or any criminal activity related to a transaction.
- FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). File a report at ic3.gov for internet-based fraud including pet scams that cross state lines.
Even if you contact authorities directly, we encourage you to also file a report with us so we can take action on our platform and help protect other users.
